Inntroduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Tv mode on the camera you control the shutter speed. Shutter speed is how long the camera lense stays open when you take a picture. Shutter speed can create a sense of time because it captures an action or motion into a still image. You can get a picture of someone running and have the background blurry showing you that that person is running fast and creating a sense of time. Also if you get a landscape picture of the stars and have it to a very slow shutter speed you can capture the stars moving in the sky also creating a sense of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Panning?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panning is when you move your camera with the object making the background motion-blurred. This isolates the object and creates a sense of speed with the blurred background. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some examples of panning where I followed the object capturing motion and blurring the background<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When should you use short shutter speed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should use short shutter speed when you want freeze fast action or prevent blur from camera shake. For example if your taking pictures of a car driving or somebody playing a sport and you want to freeze the action and moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When should you use long shutter speed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should use long shutter speed when you want to leave light trails or smooth out stuff like a water fall. It is also good for night photography and taking pictures of scenery given if your camera is stable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
