Layering is a composition technique to make your picture more “3d” or have a sense of depth and have storytelling aspect. This works by having a foreground, middleground, and background. These three sections create the depth in a picture. This is to make you picture more immersive and capture the attention of the viewer. You should however avoid having distracting or overlapping subjects in your layers because this takes the attention away from the important things to less important distrcating things.
