Layering

You can make a sense of depth in a photo by adding layers. The three main layers are foreground, middle gound and background. By adding subjects to these layers you add depth. These layers make the image immersive and three dimensional. When layering you should avoid having objects that go over eachother in distracting ways. There should be points of interest that helps the viewers eye to travel from one area to the next and leads them through the photo. Layers can tell the story of a picture and should not compete with eachother but complete eachother. The connection between what is happening in the fore, mid, and background is what tells the story.

This photo has six layers. The first or foreground is the drainer and sink on the bottom left. Next is someone working with food. Another is the two mixers, with a layer behind of someone stirring their food. To his right is a layer of someone else making food. The final layer in this photo is the oven and cupboard in the background.

The layers in this image begin with the bushes in the foreground. Next to that is a layer of grass and sidewalk. The midground is made up of a group of people walking and another layer of buses. Behind the buses are cars. The background is buildings and a feild to the right.

The three main layers in this picture are the foreground which is the dude looking away, the midground which is the teacher talking to him, and the background with a library and librarian.

There are many layers in this photo. The first is the guy taking a picture followed by a plant, the pillars, and a girl in front of a wall in the background.

This photo also has many layers with the buffet style line in the foreground, shelves with boxes on in the midground, a girl making food also in the midground, the subject, Dylan tasting a burger, and a wall in the background.

This is one of my favorite layering pictures that I took. The forground consists of a railing and a secondary forground of a student. The midground and subject is also a student, with many background layers of other students. the final background is a wall with a window.
