1.) Shutter speed has the ability to either still images or create a sense of motion. The reason shutter speed mode is able to do this is through its ability to freeze and blur. When the outcome of the image is blurred it shows the image in a sense of time, but when an image is stilled in motion the image will most likely look like something or someone in the middle of an action. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2.) The process of panning includes a lot of motion. This is said because when you are panning you are taking your camera, focusing on the subject, and then once that subject starts moving you are following along with your camera. The last step is to click the shutter – release button when your subject is almost directly in front of you and keep following through. After you take the photo you should be able to discover some type of movement either including some blur of the subject or the background or vice versa. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

3.) To know when to use a short shutter speed or a long shutter speed, you first have to understand them. A short shutter speed means that the product of the photo will be more blurred than a longer shutter speed. Reading that you’ve discovered that the longer shutter speed will then give a more frozen outcome. Now going back to trying to figure out when to use these settings you will see that if you want a blurred photo, you will go with a shorter shutter speed, but if you want your photo to be more focused\/frozen you will end up using a longer shutter speed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

EXAMPLES FOR SHUTTER SPEEDS . . . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An example picture for a shorter shutter speed is if you want a blurred picture of a waterfall. For this picture to be blurred you will want to have a larger numbered speed, close to 1\/8 seconds. This creates the final product to look blurred because 1\/8 sec is a slow enough speed to capture the fast pace of the flowing water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An example for a photo with a fast shutter speed is something like trying to capture flying birds. If blurred, it would be harder to understand the reason of the picture, but if you want to capture a ‘frozen moment in time’ you will want to have your camera set at a smaller shutter speed, like 1\/2000 sec, to cause this photo to be clear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short Shutter Speed Examples . . . <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The photos to the right are my short shutter pictures. I chose these pictures because of how well they show the blurred aspect of short shutter speed. In each of these photos you see an appealing feature which includes both the blurred background or foreground and maybe a partially focused object, creating the short shutter speed outcome. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Long Shutter Speed Examples . . .<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

My long shutter speed examples are the photos to the right. These pictures prove that they were taken at a long speed because the subjects of the images are frozen and more clear than what a short shutter speed picture would look like. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Panning Examples . . .<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I chose these as my example pictures for panning because it includes a moving object and a blurred background. The moving objects are the roller blades and the blurred background is the gravel, grass, houses, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

I chose the picture above as my featured image and my favorite image because of the well coordinated colors and the definition of the colors. I say this because the deep green background makes the red flower pop out of the picture and also having the main flower be more focused than the background also creates a more appealing photo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
