Introduction to Shutter Speed:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shutter speed is how long the shutter is open. It affects how much motion the camera captures. You can either freeze an image in motion or capture its motion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Process of Panning:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panning is when you capture the subject in motion and capture both the motion and the subject. When you pan you will keep your camera moving with the subject and keep the subject the focus. Before you take the picture and after you take the picture you should scan with the moving subject and you should end up with some movement in your photo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When and What shutter speed:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are taking a picture and want to get lots of detail using a longer shutter speed will help the camera capture it. For example when taking pictures of a starry night you might want to use a tripod and have your shutter speed set to 20 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you want to freeze an image that is moving quickly you may want to use a <\/mark><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This is an example of panning. As you can see the subject is in focus but the motion is shown.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Here is an example of a short shutter speed, the subject is stopped in motion and is in focus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Here is an example of a longer shutter speed. You can see how the people in motion are blurry while the people who are not are clearer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
