The photo above shows several different rules of composition. These include asymmetrical balance, color balance, and layering.

This photo includes more compositional elements like layering, rule of thirds, and color balance.

This photo includes the rule of thirds and layering. This photo is also considered a candid picture because the subject in the picture did not know I was taking it.

This photo includes symmetrical balance. It also includes a birds-eye viewpoint because the photo was taken from above.

This picture has layering and leading lines. This photo also includes a unique texture created by the stacked match box cars.

This photo includes layering, leading lines, and asymmetrical balance. I also included a worms-eye perspective because I shot the horse from down below.

For this picture I did not use any specific compositional rules. Instead I focused on the details of the small elements by using the macro setting on my camera. However, this photo also shows color balance because of the pop of yellow from the chip bag.

This photo shows asymmetric balance. This photo also features the macro setting that I mentioned earlier to pick up some of those tiny details.

This picture uses the rule of thirds and leading lines. I also captured the harsh shadows and dramatic lighting that was created by the sun. This is another candid picture as well.

In this photo the rule of thirds and layering is being used. I also captured a candid shot of a man trying to sell a pair of AirPods to some bystanders.

The photo above is using the rule of thirds, layering, and weight balance. This is another candid photo featuring an Amish lady sowing a quilt.

This photo features leading lines. I also captured the dramatic shadows created by the sun. This is another candid photo.

This is my featured photo because I loved how the background is blurred while the subject is clear. I also love how there is a pop of red in the sea of yellow created by the blood orange. Overall I think this photo does the best job at showing different kinds of compositional rules and still looking aesthetically pleasing.

Closing Statement

In this class I learned how to use compositional elements of photography in order to create aesthetic photos. I am very thankful for the camera mechanics that I learned as well. Now I am confident enough to pick up a digital camera and know how to make a picture look powerful.
