Introduction
Framing in photography is when you use the elements around your subject to frame or highlight what you are trying to capture. It uses foreground elements as a frame for your subject. A photographer should use framing when they’re taking photos because it puts special attention on the things you want the viewer to look at. It creates a depth in your photo that you can’t have when you don’t frame it. The framing slowly draws the viewer into the scene and makes them stay in the picture longer which makes them like it more. To start using framing you can use everyday objects like trees and branches, doorways, tunnels, or car windows or mirrors. By placing these around the edge of the composition you isolate the subject and create a more focused image.
Examples

The subject in this photo is framed by the lockers and the outline of the end of the hall.

Me and Sophia are framed by the door window frame.

This picture is taken in a big space but the focus is on Sophia because she is framed by the net.

My dad’s face is framed by the mirror and also the truck is framed by the windshield.

The sky and field are framed by the window frame and the sunset and background is framed by the mirror.

The man in the back is framed by the door frames.

Kiah is being framed by the windows in the back behind her.

This is not an example of framing because there is nothing framing the subjects.

My cousin is being framed by the trellis to bring attention to her.

This is a picture of my mom’s face in the rearview mirror while driving. It shows framing by the mirror framing her.

My mom is framed by the design on the door. The framing is blurred so it gives the subject more attention.

This is a picture of my brother kicking a soccer ball towards the camera. It shows framing by the branches on the outside of the picture. I chose this photo as my featured image because I like the way the branches frame the subject. He is also an example of the rule of thirds because he is on one vertical line so it makes the picture look better.
