What are leading lines?: Leading lines is a line that starts either the top, bottom, or edge of your photo that leads you into the heart of the scene. The lines will not always be straight. They can be curved, diagonal, or even multiple lines.
Leading lines can be found anywhere in nature, such as: railroads, roads, paths, rivers, rows of trees, shadows, ect...
This photo shows leading lines because the lines on the tree trunk leads up to the top of the tree. The picture its narrow at the bottom but the top of the tree is broad and full of color with makes this photo even more interesting. The subject is the leaves at the top of the tree, because it is very bright extravagant.
This photo shows leading lines because the lines on the trunk lead to the leaves. The angle this photo was taken at is kind of hard to see where the lines are leading because the leaves at the top are blurred. The subject in this photo I think is the part of the tree that is in focus.
Of the photos above of the trees, The picture to the left I personally think is a better picture. In my opinion I think the subject is way clearer and the leaves that are in focus are more beautiful.
In this picture the driveway is leading onto the road and to the sunset. The foreground of the photo you don't see the lines on the edge of the driveway but in the mid ground the lines of the driveway become clearer and leads to the sun. The subject in this photo is the sun, it is very bright and is where the viewers eyes will go, after following the driveway lines.
This photo above of the flowers and the sun, the flowers are pointing to the sun. The flowers are leading to the sun, which is the subject. The ray that comes off of the sun also helps add to the picture.
In this photo of the road, the yellow lines are leading you. There is not anything specific the lines are leaning to, other than the trees or further down the road, but that part of the picture is blurred. I enjoy this picture because I like how the yellow is so bright and then the trees and remainder of the road is blurred. It really boldens the leading lines. I also really like this picture because the you can see the trees are multiple colors, even if they are blurred, they are so pretty.
