What is Shutter Speed? Shutter Speed how long the camera’s shutter is open to let light hit the sensor. Measured in seconds or fractions (1/1000, 1/500, 1/125…). Faster shutter speed - less light. More freezing of motion. Slower shutter speed - more light. More motion blur.
What is Panning? Panning is moving (rotating) the camera to follow a moving subject during the exposure so the subject is relatively sharp, while the background becomes motion-blurred.It creates a sense of speed, motion, and isolates the moving subject.

These above photos are examples of short shutter speed. The shutter is open longer so the moving subjects are slightly blurred. There is more light coming in through the lens, which gives it a blurred look.

These photos above are examples of panning. The subjects are moving in the photos and I am rotating the camera to follow them, which is giving the blurred effect. Moving it with the subjects make the viewer feel like they are moving with the picture.

I chose this photo as my featured image, because I think it shows long shutter speed very well. The subject in this photo is moving, but my shutter speed was fast enough that the subject looks still. The picture is very crisp and clear, and I like the bright fall leaves in the background.

These photos above are examples of long shutter speed. My shutter speed was very fast, so the picture is clear. The subjects were moving but since my shutter was fast the subjects look still and clear.
