Balance

What is balance in photographs? There are many different types of balance in photography, symmetrical, asymmetrical, tonal, color, and conceptual. They are all very different in their own ways but they are all important when taking pictures. Balance helps guide the viewer’s eye to what you want them to look at. It can also make the picture look more appealing and visually pleasing. Many photographers use balance because it makes clear what they want the viewer to see and what story they want to tell with the picture.

This image also shows asymmetrical balance because of the two cars on the one side and the one truck on the other

This is an example of asymmetrical balance because of the split of colors

This is an example of color balance because the sky is light colors and the trees/ground are dark colors

This shows symmetrical balance because both sides of the image are the same

This is my favorite image out of all of them. It’s not a very good picture but I like the way you can easily tell that there is asymetrical balance.
