Leading Lines

A leading line is a straight, diagonal, or curved line that begins near the bottom of the picture that leads the viewer to the subject. Lines such as roads, fences, or streams can be used to draw the viewer to the subject.

There is no subject in the picture on the left. There is a deer at the end of the woods, but you can’t see it. The trees are the leading lines. The picture on the right has the buildings as the subject. The fence is the leading line and it is slightly curved.

The picture on the left has the hallway as the leading lines. The subject is the kids at their lockers, even though they don’t take up much of the picture. The picture on the right has the metal thing as the leading lines. The subject is really boring, but it is the eggs.

I chose this picture as the featured image because I like how the sunset reflects on the water and also how the trees are a silhouette. The sunset and water is the subject and the leading lines is the dock.
