Framing can be really useful in photography when it is used well. Most pictures that use framing frame the subject on at least two sides of the picture. Some good ways to create frames are with shadows, mirrors, and other things that create dimension. A good photographer knows how to utilize framing in composition by going at different angles to get the most out of the frame. When beginning to use framing for pictures it can help if the photographer looks for specific scenes that framing could happen naturally. For example, some trees make really nice frames to the sky or looking through a volleyball net onto a player can also draw the viewers eye.

The picture on the left shows framing for many different things. The main frame has the front of the bus on it and on other frames the viewer can see the school’s logo. The picture on the right shows Sophia framed by the volleyball net while she sets.

These three pictures I don’t like quite as much. In the first one, the picture is pretty grainy, but the frames do point to the subject. In the second picture, the microwave acts like a mirror so that the viewer can see the subjects. However, its from pretty far away and the camera blocks the faces a little bit. In the last image, the subjects are the barn and the kids, but they are far away and it’s harder to tell what’s going on.

These pictures were taken at night so the shadows do a lot of the framing. In the left picture the viewer can see through the steps that the birds are sitting in their cage. Because it’s so dark however, it’s hard to tell that they are looking through steps. In the right picture the subjects are both of the light fixtures. The pentagon frames both of them and makes into a neat picture.

This is a picture of my living room. The wooden beams frame the whole setting, however it should have more light and it looks a little distorted because it’s taken in .5 mode.

These three pictures show framing through different types of ways. In the first picture, the fingers draw the eye to the bird in the phone. In the second picture, the salt and pepper frame the napkins. The napkins are also framed in a way by the holder. The last picture shows the table setting from through the light fixture. This is a cool perspective shot because usually people don’t look through the chandelier.

This picture is my favorite because all the books are framed in their own way. The blue book stands out the most because it is framed from behind, but the red book is also framed because the blue and black books are pulled out away from it. All the books are also framed by the shelves from the top, bottom, and side.
