For our final post we all went to Green Dragon to take pictures of real life scenarios. Mainly, we focused on trying to get a wide variety of pictures of different things while keeping in mind photography elements like framing, balance, and lighting.
Compositional Rules

These three pictures show different compositions. The one on the left shows the rule of thirds with the tree on a thirds line. The middle picture has framing with each of the different white frames showing something different in the picture. I think the middle frame has the best subject. The right picture has layering and depth with the cloth and wooden container in the foreground, the woman sewing in the midground and the Christmas cloth in the background.

These two pictures also show composition rules. The left picture show color balance with the dark avocados contrasting against the bright lemons. The right picture shows leading lines with the bathroom arrow pulling the eye away from the sign. It also has rule of thirds because the sign is on the thirds line.
Viewpoint and Light

These two picture demonstrate different perspectives. The one on the left shows the cauliflower from below while the right picture shows it from above. I like that it gives the cauliflower more dimension with both of these pictures showing details the other missed.

This picture has really dramatic lighting and shadows. While the subject itself is not threatening at all, the lighting creates a mood that is mysterious.
Unposed Interaction

These pictures show interactions between people that weren’t posed. In the picture on the left, the two women are trying to figure out what to buy from the pretzel stand. In the right picture two other women are trying to decide which pastry to get from the counter.
Creative Choice

These two pictures show some interesting things that I saw at Green Dragon. The first is a 3d printed dinosaur. I took it really close up and in black and white which made it look threatening and more real than the plasticky version that would’ve showed up with the color on. The second picture is of a gnome with different chairs for holding phones. This one was a random stand and I thought it was cool how all the gnomes are different and so it also brought some symmetry to the picture.
Featured Image

I liked this picture because it shows a lot of different produce while still focusing on the subject of the picture. I liked that the seller had cut open an orange so that the buyers could tell what kind of orange it was. It also provided some good contrast within the sea of orange and yellow fruit. It also has a good depth of field with the fruit in the front being in focus, but everything fading into background behind the cut open orange.
