Layering is very helpful for photographers because it can include multiple objects at once. It keeps the viewers attention in the picture longer and makes the picture more interesting. In layering there are two or more layers. The layers in the front usually have a subject while the layers in the back have the background setting.

The first picture has several different layers with the hanging flowers and the key, the car as the next layer, and finally outside as the last layer. The other picture has layers with the two people in the front, the third person behind them, the school behind her, and the sky behind the school.

I took this picture after school when I decided to go to Starbucks. This picture has layers with the drink being in the foreground, the interior of the car in the background, and the stoplight in the background.

The picture on the left doesn’t have as many layers as some of the others. I think the only ones it has is the car and then the sky in the background. The picture on the right has layers with the magazines in front, the candles and vase in the middle and the fire in the background.

This is my favorite picture because of the nice layers with the mirror, barn, and road. I took it on the way to my grandma’s house and I like how you can see the road, fields, and mountains in the mirror, while also getting context from the barn in the background.
