Field Trip to Green Dagon

Introduction

On Friday, December 12, our photography class took a field trip to the Green Dragon, a farmers’ market located in Lancaster County. There are numerous stands around the market, as well as a wide variety of shops. There was amazing food, along with antique stands, perfume stands, birdhouse stands, and many others. In this post, I am going to show some of the photos that I took that represent one of the compositions in photography.

This is a photo of a grapefruit, and here they had it cut in half to show its deliciousness. The photo follows the rule of thirds because the grapefruit is off-center and on one of the third lines.

This photo represents the composition of layering because the main subject in this photo is the reef. And to make the eye be drawn to the reef, if you make the reef clearer than the rest of the photo, then it will have that effect.

This picture uses leading lines by the page’s leading your eyes down the page and into the back of the photo. I like this photo because the book is kind of the main subject as it is the first thing you see, but it also leads your eye to the rest of the picture.

Canon EOS REBEL T3i 2025-12-12 16:33:54 f/4.5 1/320sec ISO-640 29mm Horizontal (normal)

This picture of more unposed, and I just quickly took a picture of it because there was a guy sitting there. This photo represents the rule of thirds, but the car in the background is a little distracting.

This photo represents leading lines and also the rule of thirds, along with depth and layering. This picture uses a lot of different composition rules. The rule of thirds because the fox skins are off-center. Leading lines because the skins are in a line that is leading your eyes. The lines of the skin also give depth to the photo by layering.

In this photo, the fruit cup is actually a candle, so I thought that was cool. I used the rule of thirds to enhance this photo.

I really like this picture because the lighting is really good, and it makes the lemons look really yellow. This photo shows repetition and also color balance, with the lemons being yellow and the limes green, and also all the different kinds of fruit.

Here is another picture of produce, and in this photo, you can see that there are a lot of different fruits and vegetables, and the wooden holder makes it look super nice and organized. This photo uses the above lighting, and it really makes the fruit and vegetables look clean.

Canon EOS REBEL T3i 2025-12-12 16:27:20 f/4 1/30sec ISO-200 25mm Horizontal (normal)

In this picture, there are a lot of different fruits and vegetables that are portrayed, and I also really liked the lighting. The photo shows a lot of the composition rules, but this was one of the photos that I kind of quickly took and kept moving.

This is definitely my favorite picture because the bracelets are just super clear, and the colors are really vibing together. This picture is really pretty because the lighting is perfect, and I also blurred the background to make your eye quickly focus on the bracelets and on the pole they are on.

In closing

This field trip was a lot of fun to go on, and I got to have the freedom of taking pictures in a public place. I also really enjoyed the food they had there, along with the drinks. I definitely recommend doing this field trip again in the future.
