The Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds is a rule that makes you pictures more balanced and mades them more appealing to the eye. The purpose is to create a more engaging picture by dividing the frame into thirds and with those lines creating interceptions that are called power points, to get your eye to go there naturally and then off that follow any leading lines away from that point. When taking pictures you can use the rule of thirds by using the grid overlay in your phone. Then place the main point of your image at one of the interception points, this will make your image more pleasing to the eye.
