How a picture is lit definitely affects the mood of the picture, for example, a front lit picture is usually pretty clear and even, a side-lit picture likely more textured and dramatic, and a back-lit is usually mysterious, emotional, or dramatic.
- Front light: clear, even, open lighting
- Side light: dramatic, texture, dimensional
- Back light: glowing, mysterious, emotional
I was surprised how much dimension side-lit pictures had. I never really noticed how that lighting changes pictures, but i’ll definitely keep it in mind from now on.

I think this picture expresses the most emotion. Even though it’s a little boring, the lighting make it feel real and the soft cast shadow makes it feel like you could touch it through the screen. I like the texture the lighting and shadows give it.

I picked this picture as my featured image because i thought it was the most interesting. I like how dramatic the shadows are, it makes it look like the light is bursting out of the lampshade. I’m always a fan of dramatic lighting, like this lamp shows.
